Punthill Essendon North opens its doors.

Leading boutique apartment hotel operator, the Veriu Group, has kicked off 2023 with a bang, announcing the opening of its latest property, Punthill Essendon North, in the heart of Melbourne’s inner north west last week.

Built in partnership with EVR Group, the state-of-the-art 40-apartment hotel offers a mix of modern studio and one-bedroom apartments, designed to accommodate solo and group travel, for business or leisure. Combining light-filled, fully self-catering apartments – each one including a fully-equipped kitchen, balcony, desk and fast, high-quality internet, along with comprehensive conference and meeting facilities, secure on-site parking subject to availability, gym and guest laundry, it represents the perfect accommodation option for both business and leisure travellers seeking the comforts of home.   Guests can also take advantage of the many dining options on the Keilor Road strip.

Located north of Melbourne’s CBD, just minutes from Flemington, Moonee Valley and Essendon Fields, Punthill Essendon North is expected to complement the Group’s existing Punthill Essendon property and is well positioned to service the corporate catchment area in Melbourne’s Northern suburbs, as well as business travellers commuting to and from Melbourne Airport.

The opening of the hotel is a timely one for Veriu Group CEO Zed Sanjana. “We’re extremely pleased to have added Punthill Essendon North to our existing portfolio, with the hotel specifically situated to take advantage of a significant corporate catchment area in Melbourne’s North, currently somewhat underserviced in terms of quality corporate accommodation.

He adds, “We believe that business travellers are increasingly looking for more unique and localised accommodation experiences within these corporate hubs. Our network expansion is focused on bringing good quality new accommodation options to CBD, suburban and regional markets, in locations underpinned by the business travel segments. Like all properties in our group, Punthill Essendon North is ideally positioned to be able to provide both corporate and leisure guests with premium accommodation in an accessible and convenient location”.

More broadly, the last few months have been busy ones for Sanjana, with the Group unveiling the 110-room Veriu Queen Victoria Market – its first Victorian Veriu Apartment Hotel branded property in early December. The new Veriu Collingwood, located in one of the inner city’s most popular locales, is being developed in partnership with the Gurner Group, is also expected to open in early April. But he’s showing no signs of complacency.

“The opening of Punthill Essendon North has increased our collection of properties under the trusted Punthill Apartment Hotels brand to 13 and boosts our portfolio to over 1,260 rooms and apartments under operation to 20 sites under the combined Veriu Hotels & Suites and Punthill Apartment Hotels brands. We’re expecting another 3 openings in 2023 and by mid-year will have a further 6 sites under construction across Australia, partnering with top tier developers and local businesses along the way.”

Says Sanjana, “We see a huge opportunity to become one of Australia’s largest apartment hotel operators, while still maintaining a unique and localised feel at each of our properties. With that comes the prospect of increased business for the local communities where we operate, and we look forward to working with both local government and commercial stakeholders to effectively implement this infrastructure.”

Bookings for Punthill Essendon North are now open, by visiting https://www.veriu.com.au/ with studio apartments priced from $255.
