Top tips on space-saving products for your small bathroom renovation

  • Written by Scene Magazine

Australians are increasingly facing the challenges associated with renovating a small bathroom, with many thinking that they have to sacrifice on the renovation of their dreams to pave the way for functionality.

However,  Reece Bathrooms Bathroom and Kitchen Merchandising Leader,  Daniela Santilli, challenges this sentiment, saying Reece has seen a rise in space-saving sanitary ware and accessories, meaning homeowners are achieving  both aesthetic and functionality goals from their renovations.

Santilli shares her top tips for Australians to consider if planning a small bathroom renovation:

Utilising Integrated Storage solutions

To maximise storage, opting for vanities with drawers provides ample room for organising essentials. The Kado Era vanity is a great example as it has customisable configurations meaning that you don’t have to sacrifice on the design of your bathroom furniture.

Mirror cabinets integrate two essential bathroom features - storage and a mirror,  into a single, stylish unit. Additionally, a mirror cabinet such as the
Kado Neue  can be semi recessed into the wall for a more seamless and streamline look, appearing less intrusive in the space.

Utilising Dormant Wall Space

Back to wall and back to corner baths such as the  Kado Lussi Cast Solid Surface Freestanding Back to Wall Bath will offer the freestanding bath look whilst maximising your space with their compact configurations and design.

In- wall toilets, such as the
Kado Lux Back To Wall Rimless Overheight Pan with Soft Close or the Roca Ona Back To Wall Rimless Pan Toilet Seat, will give you more freedom and save a lot of space with the typical projection of a toilet being integrated into the wall.

Incorporating shower niches maximises otherwise unused space while reducing clutter. This not only enhances functionality but also makes it easier to opt for a more compact shower floor plan.

New! Space-saving hardware

Vertical heated towel rails such as the  Mizu Soothe Vertical Heated Towel Rail is a smart solution for small bathrooms. By utilising wall height instead of horizontal space, they help free up floor space, creating a more open and uncluttered feel.

For a more minimalistic and space-saving design, opt for a separate hand shower on a bracket paired with an overhead shower. This setup delivers the same functionality as a twin rail shower while freeing up wall space and creating a more open feel.

Technology

LED mirrors with adjustable settings, such as the Kado Aspect 800mm Round Led Mirror, allow for extra lighting reducing the need for wall sconces that typically provide light for benefits such as applying make-up and skincare, while also opening up the room.

Overall, we recommend sitting down with a Bathroom Consultant, they’ll help you see a mockup of your plans before you start, ensuring every inch of your space is maximised and your vision comes to life seamlessly.
