Blues on Broadbeach 2021

  • Written by SueMacMedia

It seems like just yesterday we proudly announced the return of the mighty Blues on Broadbeach, and now that the date is approaching fast, we are keen to spill the beans on some of the juicy developments in store for blues lovers in 2021
(May 20-23).
And yes, that means a second line-up announcement, which will include for the first time at Blues on Broadbeach, ARIA and Grammy Award winning rock icons Wolfmother. No strangers to big festivals, having performed at Coachella and Lollapalooza, they are a huge addition to a line-up already brimming with talent.
Another first timer is ARIA Award winning C.W Stoneking, who hails from Katherine, NT. C.W. takes blues all the way back to its roots with a 1920’s pre-war jive and a jazzy New Orleans twist. With someone like Stoneking performing, the blues will truly be alive in Broadbeach in May!
Major Events Gold Coast is super excited to announce the second line-up of artists joining the already amazing program which includes the likes of Tommy Emmanuel, NZ’s The Black Seeds and Christine Anu.
Festival Director, Mark Duckworth says, “The second round of artists coming to the festival in May will make for another memorable year. As a music lover, the best thing about Blues on Broadbeach is the multiple styles of music we get to present, all stemming back to the original blues sound.”

For those that know Blues on Broadbeach, they would know Ray Beadle, Lloyd Spiegel, and Fiona Boyes.
Beadle is the genuine article, playing guitar from his heart and soul since the age of nine, learning from the greats and carving out his name through his exhilarating live sessions! The festival fave is looking forward to returning to his beloved Blues on Broadbeach.
Spiegel has been touring since the age of 12, having played alongside greats such as Ray Charles, Bob Dylan, and Etta James. His talent has placed him in the Australian Guitar Magazine’s top 50 guitarists of all time.
“After the madness of 2020, I can’t think of a better way to return to music than performing at Blues on Broadbeach.” Lloyd Spiegel claims, “It’s an event that truly represents and embraces the Australian blues community, and now — more than ever — that community needs a chance to come together, relaunch and move forward. I’m so looking forward to seeing this amazing FREE showcase of Australian blues talent back in full swing.”
Boyes has been described as soulful, authoritative, and a ‘musical anomaly’. As a repeat-nominee at the Memphis Blues Music Awards, Fiona is taking her slide-guitar styles from the heart of Louisiana to the international scene with her band The Fortune Tellers.
The sunshine state is proving to be Australia’s destination of the year and the Gold Coast is the veritable jewel in the crown. Organisers suggest getting in quick with your flights and accommodation. See the available options here.
“There is only one word needed to describe the line-up for Blues in 2021 – amazing!" touted Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate. “I’m not sure I’ve got the energy to go all night with Wolfmother, but I’ll definitely be front-of-stage when C.W. Stoneking showcases the blues from the 1920s. I encourage anyone who has not been to a Blues weekend in our city to blank out the dates now – and book their accommodation.”
