Neale Whitaker shares latest Luxaflex design trends

As we move into 2023, creating a beautiful sanctuary at home remains key.  For those looking to update their personal spaces, there are many fresh and diverse new moods on the scene that homeowners can individualise and tailor to suit their style.

“Having had time to reflect deeply on personal taste over the last three years, 2023 is a great opportunity for homeowners to express their individuality and style through their interiors,” says Neale Whitaker, interior design expert and Luxaflex Brand Ambassador. “2023 is all about being brave and letting the imagination run wild. It’s the perfect opportunity to create a wonderfully stylish home that is completely how you want it to be.”

Often seen as the finishing touch to an overall home design, window treatments can elevate a room, creating depth and warmth, while providing functionality tailored to the homeowner’s individual needs.

“The role of window coverings has evolved significantly over the years as technology and design have improved. With a better understanding of the transformative effect of light, the role of window furnishings today is far more than just light control, offering noise and temperature insulation as well,” says Neale.

“When designing your home, it’s important to remember your priorities and consider how you want to live in your home. When choosing design elements, homeowners should think about what they love and what they enjoy and pull this together into a cohesive design narrative,” adds Neale.

To assist in executing a unique style at home, we have identified eight key looks that capture the interior lifestyle trends for 2023, with advice on how to utilise the power that natural light and privacy play, through a selection of beautiful contemporary Luxaflex window coverings.

Le Salon

A mix of classic and contemporary styles permeates throughout the opulent theme, inspired by the luxurious femininity of a classic Paris apartment. Soft and sumptuous, the colour palette features gentle antique whites, soft pink and dove tones with cosy accents of brass and rose, enhanced through muted animal and floral prints. Luxaflex® Sakura curtain print in silver and honey, featuring delicate blossom flowers is a perfect example of this style and creates understated beauty and elegance in a room.

Natural Elevation

A strong modern style, this theme combines warm woods, textured neutrals, robust shapes and artisanal accessories. A contemporary look is achieved using tones of the brown colour palette, including rust, caramel, bone with highlight touches of ruby. Luxaflex® Duette® Shades in Elan Birch Bark teamed with Byron Sheer Curtains in Byron Smoke, Borocay Taupe or Ashlynn Mouse, provide the perfect backdrop, creating an emotional connection to the calming environment.

Soft Spatial

The soft spatial trend exemplifies serene and feminine spaces through tonal stripes and sheer detail. Muted clays and antique white hues are the core colours that feature throughout this elegant theme.  Accents of rust, pink and kohl allow for individual expression. The Luxaflex® Sheer Curtain range offers the perfect finishing touch to this style of interior, adding a visual element of textural depth and dimension to transform a room.

Monoterra

A dramatic yet elegant interpretation of the monochromatic expression. This bold scheme of black and white is accented with layered neutral tones, natural materials, powerful graphics, and bold stripes. Using colours that vary in lightness and saturation can create a clean, sophisticated look, whilst using variations in textures can subdue the boldness of a strong colour such as black.

Rural Contemporary

Reflecting a contemporary country farmhouse, this style highlights symmetry, texture and classic patterns, showcased through a colour palette of antique white and muted grey.  The look is softened through linen textiles and tonal layering. Get the look with Luxaflex® PolySatin® Shutters which feature a soft, matte lustre look of freshly painted wood, are impervious to moisture and will not blister, peel, flake, corrode or fade.

Pacifica

Coastal themes are ever-present and constantly evolving.  Cool blue and crisp white accents are highlighted through beach-inspired tones, while natural materials such as rattan and bamboo alongside touches of green-based blues bring this relaxed theme to life. Luxaflex® Pirouette® Shadings in Shantung Nocturne, ClearView® Satin Blueprint or Satin Luxe provides the perfect backdrop with blinds that speak to the coastal feel with their blue-based tones but gently filter light with a simple turn of their vanes to make interiors feel effortless and calming.

Sunset Villa

Warm arid tones such as turmeric and rouge feature throughout this theme, evoking a suggestion of island life where waxed and distressed woods live with grasses and reeds. Matt textiles of brushed cotton and canvas bring a relaxed atmosphere to the overall aesthetic, while patterned textiles and exposed ceiling beams feature in living spaces that inspire relaxation.

The Moderne

Lineal elements, both vertical and horizontal are crucial elements of this streamlined look. Velvet, tight-piled textiles and burled woods accent the theme alongside brushed bronze and ribbed pewter. Luxaflex® Luminette® Privacy Sheers in Ella Endless Gray or Nightfall, create a classic modern vibe. Diffusing light or restricting light is easy with the choice of translucent or room-darkening opacities whilst providing an elegant curtain-like look to a room.
