Bowens & Uber Partner to Bring 90-minute Hardware Deliveries to Victorian Builders

Bowens, Australia’s leading supplier of quality timber and building products, today announced its partnership with Uber Delivery. This partnership will enable 90-minute hardware deliveries for builders, trades and retail customers across Melbourne and regional Victoria.

From September 5th, 2023, Bowens’ customers will be able to order last minute hardware supplies from all stores that are serviced by Uber Delivery for a $10 flat fee. This fast and affordable delivery service will enable builders and trades the convenience of receiving products to jobsites without having to stop work. As the first adopter of Uber Delivery for the construction industry in Australia, Bowens key intent is to drive on-site productivity for builders, to help solidify the relationship between supplier, builder and their clients.

Director and Chief Investment Officer at Bowens, Andy Bowen, said: “We believe this partnership with Uber will be a game-changer for builders. We want to provide builders and trades with the materials they need as quickly as possible to keep their jobs moving, saving them valuable time on-site. Uber delivery will offer the ultimate convenience of receiving goods in less than 90-minutes for an incredibly low $10 flat fee.”

Packed by Bowens and picked up by Uber, customers can track their order via a live tracking link sent from the Uber Delivery driver. These innovative ways to deliver products to construction sites quickly and efficiently can be the difference between trades leaving site mid-job or at job completion. This is imperative to small- and medium-sized builders at a time in the industry where every minute off the tools count.

Andy Bowen said: “We want to be an extension of every builder and trades business. So we need to ask, how can we make your job easier? How can we save you time on site? Bowens Uber Delivery was initiated to keep jobs moving without the interruption of leaving site at a critical time during construction.”

Bowens already delivers direct to over 850 sites each day via their large fleet of utes, tray trucks and crane trucks as well as third-party postage options, same day and scheduled deliveries. Uber will provide an extension of this offer, filling the need for urgent deliveries of boxed products under 20 kilograms. Customers will have the option for Uber delivery at checkout provided their products are in-stock and to be delivered within a 10-kilometre radius of their closest store.

Bowens launched its ecommerce site in December 2020 and continues to increase its website traffic with initiates such as eInvoicing and Online Invoice Payments. With over 50,000 products currently available online via bowens.com.au, Bowens continues to find ways to make the building process quicker and easier for builders and trades.

Bowens is a fourth-generation, family-owned Australian business supplying the largest variety of quality building supplies in the country for over 129 years. Bowens supports all trade customers with industry trained, experienced sales representatives helping with onsite advice and product support, ensuring no down time occurs and that materials arrive on time and in full. In addition to delivery and click + collect services, Bowens operates across 19 stores throughout Melbourne and regional Victoria.
