Synthony, returns to Brisbane for a ‘One Night Only’ epic outdoor show

The sell-out success, Synthony, returns to Brisbane for a ‘One Night Only’ epic outdoor show at Riverstage on Saturday 29^th May!

The ultimate celebration of the last 30 years of dance music, Synthony is a unique collaboration between Orchestra, DJs, live vocalists and feature musicians.  

 

After a hugely success 2019 show at Brisbane City Hall, the super-charged and energetic Synthony will return to showcase a brand-new set list featuring the biggest dance anthems from icons such as: Avicii, Eric Prydz, Fatboy Slim and Basement Jaxx to name just a few, backed with the full might of a 60+ piece Brisbane Philharmonic Orchestra.  The show is stacked with iconic stars from across the Australian music spectrum playing their global hits including: Miss Connie (Sneaky Sound System), Ilan Kidron (The Potbelleez), Mobin Master, Greg Gould, Ella Monnery, Andy Van (Madison Avenue / Vicious Records) and Mark Dynamix.

 

With an epic backdrop of visuals, lasers and a state-of-the-art sound system, it’s a magical, uplifting, hands-in-the-air dance party like no other.  An energetic show from the outset, this is not an orchestra as you know it.  This celebration of dance music is more than just a show, it takes the audience on a nostalgic journey back through their most memorable dance music experiences.  Track after track, fans are taken down memory lane and celebrate dance music that is embedded into their subconscious.  

 

Synthony's New Zealand shows (since 2017) have been attended by ‘Sold Out’ audiences (as well as its Brisbane debut in 2019).  After successful shows across New Zealand over the last few months, including a sold-out show at Spark Arena, (Auckland) and the orchestral extravaganza’s first outdoor show at the magical natural Amphitheatre of the ‘Bowl of Brooklands’ (New Plymouth), the tour hits the soon to be sold out Melbourne show at the famous Sidney Myer Music Bowl.

It’s no secret that 2020 has been a tumultuous rollercoaster for event promoters.  The Synthony tour was due to be announced just days before New Zealand went into Level 4 lockdown and the future of the tour all of a sudden became awfully uncertain.  Shows across Australia, Asia, and the U.S were in the pipeline for 2020.  Months of preparation and negotiations with artists, venues and sponsors were all dashed and the team behind Synthony, had to rebuild the program all over again. 

 

Duco Events Promoter Rachael Carroll says she’s excited to bring the show back to Australia and return to Brisbane a city that loved the first show: “Given the circumstances, it’s amazing to be able to bring this show back to Brisbane. We dipped out toe in the water staging the event at City Hall in 2019 and following great reviews we can’t wait to go bigger and better outdoors at the stunning Riverstage.

 

The show will be run in a government approved, Covid-safe set up at Riverstage. Whilst the venue normally can hold over 9,000 people, tickets will be capped at 4,000 due to capacity restrictions.

 

The Synthony Australian Tour has only been possible thanks to the support of the Restart Investment to Sustain and Expand (RISE) Fund – an Australian Government initiative. “We certainly would not be putting on this show without the RISE funding support from the Australian Government.  This partnership has given us the confidence to invest, take risk and put on events that will see some artists and suppliers secure their first job and income after a very long break in event activity” said Carroll.

 

Eager dance music fans around Brisbane will have one hand in the air and one hand on the mouse, hovering over the ‘Buy Tickets’ button as the tickets are released on: Friday 19^th February, 11am AEST.  With a ‘One Night Only’ show and restricted numbers, fans will need to get in quickly to secure their spot.

About Synthony 

Founded in 2017 by DJ and producer, Erika Amoore and fellow Kiwi David Elmsly, Synthony sold out its first ever show at the Auckland Town Hall to a packed house and unprecedented reviews.  The show’s creation brought together key New Zealand talent, with Peter Thomas, conductor and music director of the Auckland Symphony Orchestra believing in the unique concept and enlisting the services of Ryan Youens, an arranger with hundreds of professional credits to his name, including film scores for The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey and The Desolation of Smaug. 

 

After sold-out events at Auckland Town Hall in 2017 and 2018, Duco Events, a major event promoter with a 16-year track-record, purchased the concept with an ambitious long-term vision to expand the event from one city to multiple venues and cities across the globe.  In 2019, they took the show to Brisbane, Australia and also sold out five shows across NZ later that year.  Over six shows, four Orchestras and hundreds of musicians played to over 14,000 fans in 2019. 

 

In 2020, Synthony staged its biggest ever NZ-wide tour, supporting the live music industry’s recovery post COVID19.  Synthony returns to Australia this April for its first outdoor show at the Sidney Myer Music Bowl, Melbourne, followed by Brisbane in May with other Australian cities to be announced, followed by other international markets.
