Punthill Parramatta welcomes its first guests

  • Written by Scene Magazine

Leading boutique apartment hotel operator, the Veriu Group has continued the ambitious roll out of its successful Punthill apartment hotel accommodation model, with the recent opening of its second NSW property – Punthill Parramatta.

The latest addition to the Group’s highly successful Punthill portfolio, the 52-apartment hotel is located in Parramatta’s bustling Church Street and offers a mix of modern studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom apartments, designed to accommodate solo and group travel, for business or leisure.

Each state-of-the-art apartment comes with a fully equipped kitchen, balcony, desk and fast, high-quality internet, in-room laundry facilities and secure on-site parking subject to availability, making it the perfect accommodation option for both business and leisure travellers seeking the comforts of home. Guests can take advantage of dining options nearby including the Entrada Shopping Centre, with its many cafes and restaurants, located just across the road. Or, for those wishing to self-cater, the Centre’s Coles supermarket and pharmacy also place all the essentials for apartment living right at their fingertips.

Easy access to public transport adds to the hotel’s appeal, including a bus station located right around the corner and the Parramatta Station only a kilometre down the road, putting Sydney’s CBD just a 30-minute train-ride away. This connectivity is expected to be further enhanced on completion of construction of the new Parramatta Light Rail service, which conveniently places a tram stop right at the doorstep of the property.

In good news for business travellers, Punthill Parramatta marks a welcome addition to existing premium accommodation offerings in the area, located just minutes from the Westmead Health and Innovation District – home to the largest concentration of hospital and health services in Australia, as well as the campuses of Western Sydney University, the University of New England and Raffles College of Design and Commerce, while the busy Rydalmere Industrial Precinct is just under 4km away. The city is also set to undergo further significant transformation and development over the next 5 years, with the State Government and private developers having committed $500M+ to establish it as Sydney’s second CBD and investing in a range of projects including a new light rail system, development of Parramatta Square, and the establishment of a new university, all of which means the hotel is ideally positioned to cater for anticipated growth in demand for quality corporate accommodation nearby.

Punthill Parramatta is also sure to appeal to leisure travellers. Many popular local landmarks and attractions are located nearby including Parramatta Park, the Old Government House Museum, the 30,000-seat CommBank Stadium, Rosehill Gardens Racecourse – home of the Golden Slipper Stakes and the newly opened PHIVE community hub which includes the new City of Parramatta Library, event and creative spaces, and the City of Parramatta Council Chambers. Playing host to a wide variety major sporting events and music concerts, Sydney Olympic Park is also a short drive away, while those in need of a little retail therapy can head to the 450-store Westfield Parramatta.

The decision to open a hotel in Sydney’s thriving ‘second city’ is a logical one for Group CEO, Zed Sanjana. “Strategically we’ve always sought to grow the Punthill portfolio by opening in locations supported by major sources of corporate room night demand. As one of the fastest growing regions in New South Wales, Parramatta is currently experiencing a major transformation. With a $20 billion investment planned for the city’s infrastructure over the next 5 years, it’s expected to become a liveable, sustainable and global hub.

He adds, “Construction is also well underway on Stage 1 of the Parramatta Light Rail, a project that’s ultimately expected to provide the people of Parramatta and the surrounding areas with a first-class transport system, as well as supporting more than 5,000 local jobs.

“Collectively, all of this means that means Punthill Parramatta is ideally positioned to meet the increasing demand for premium extended stay self-contained accommodation in a growing market, in one of Sydney’s most coveted locations”.

Today’s announcement caps off a busy few months for the Victorian-based operator, following the opening of the opening of its latest Victorian Punthill offering, Punthill Essendon North, in February its second Melbourne Veriu property, Veriu Collingwood and the start of construction on Punthill Liverpool in Sydney’s south, late last year, followed by the opening of its latest Victorian Punthill offering, Punthill Essendon North, in February. Construction is also now well underway on the Punthill Sunshine site, in Melbourne’s inner west as well as various other sites in South Australia.

More announcements about the opening of new Veriu and Punthill apartment hotels at various sites are expected from the Veriu Group in the coming months.
